The text you paste

It stays in your browser. Detection, replacement and restoration all run as JavaScript in the page you are looking at. Your text is never transmitted to this site’s servers or to anyone else’s, because the site has no upload endpoint and no server-side processing of any kind.

It is also never written to storage. Nothing you type is saved to localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB or a cookie. Closing the tab discards it; the “clear everything” button discards it immediately.

The placeholder mapping

The mapping between placeholders and your real values exists only in the memory of the open tab. If you use “Save key file”, the mapping is written to a file that you choose the location of — that file reverses the redaction, so treat it like a password and delete it when you are finished.

What is stored on your device

• Settings only. Which detectors you switched on and which replacement style you prefer, in localStorage. Never text, never custom terms, never mappings.
• A service worker cache holding this site’s own pages and scripts, so the tool works offline. It never caches anything you type.

Analytics

If analytics is enabled, it is Cloudflare Web Analytics: cookieless, with no cross-site tracking and no personal profiles. It records page views and referrers — never the content of the tool. That is also why this site has no cookie banner: there are no tracking cookies to consent to.

Advertising

There are no ads at the time of writing. If advertising is added, this page will be updated first, ads will sit outside the tool, and any personalised advertising would require a consent mechanism — which we would rather avoid than implement. No advertiser can ever see the text you paste, because that text never leaves your device.

Third parties

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which processes standard request logs (IP address, user agent) as any web host does. No other third-party service receives anything. There are no third-party fonts, no CDN scripts and no embedded widgets.

Children

The tool is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone, of any age.

Your rights

We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing to access, correct or delete. If you believe otherwise, write to hello@scrublocally.com.

Changes

Material changes will be reflected here with a new date. The no-upload architecture is not a policy setting that can be changed quietly — it is how the site is built, and you can verify it on every visit.
